The GSR

Work on our new project, the GSR, is progressing rapidly. Stephan and Wylie have been putting in the hours in the workshop, and testing on the river. We will be posting updates as we get them.

Modifying the design

Wylie has been hard at work, improving the design based on the results from the first prototype. Changes include slightly narrowing and shortening the boat while retaining the mid-hull profile, and a different volume distribution in the stern. Here is how work is progressing - another prototype should be coming soon...

Testing the first prototypes

Wylie has been on a roadtrip out west with his brand new GSR prototype. He got a chance to put it through it's paces at Skooks, and we thought that we should share this with everyone;

The first prototypes

The first GSR plug is complete! The first two prototypes to come off are a kayak version for Wylie and a C1 for Stephan. We'll let you know how they handle soon.

Making the plug...

The boys have bought themselves a few sheets of foam, and are working hard to make a foam plug. We hear about all the arguments that they have, but it looks like it is coming together, and the first version of the GSR looks pretty sweet..

First steps

Andrew Wylie (pictured below) has been the proud owner of a Saint kayak for a couple of years now. We have been working with him on modifying the boat to further enhance the performance over the winter. Amongst other things we have decreased the overall length slightly, increased the rocker and smoothed the edge transitions towards the bow and stern. There have also been a few improvements to the seat profile and backband attachment points. further work and testing during the summer might well lead to a completely new kayak design - watch this space for further updates and reports on how the testing is going.
