The Jedi is the first production C1 play boat that Shaggy Designs built, back in 1998. The design has its origins in Slalom boat design which makes the boat quick and accurate for its short length. The Jedi took first place in both the 1999 and 2000 UK student C1 rodeos, and has given many hours of enjoyment on the rivers of the UK and abroad.
Like the Sith, the Jedi is wider than most kayaks at 0.65m, meaning greater stability - useful in the shallow river of the UK! The semi-flat hull makes for excellent performance on ocean waves, and a flat stern enables quick and predictable squirt turns. The boat has slab sides, centralised volume and low volume ends, making the Jedi very easy to surf and blast holes. The Jedi is also very stable on its ends making it great fun in a hole. This is the ideal boat for the paddler who comes to play boating from slalom racing but guarantees anyone a fun ride.

The standard outfitting supplied in a Jedi includes foam pillars in both bow and stern, 2 integral hull stiffeners, and strap anchors incorporated into the layup during manufacture for maximum holding power. C-section beam pillars in the bow, and a composite pedestal seat that fits between the hull and deck are also available. These optional fittings are usually fixed in place, but can be supplied separately. The standard cockpit fits a circular C1 race deck.

One of the advantages of composite construction is that the boat's trim and total volume can be altered by trimming the two halves of the boat before joining them. The internal fittings can also be customised to your needs. Only the final layers of foam for the seat and kneebraces, and straps are left to you to install to your preference.
